Clubs and Organizations
Spring Musical Production : In order to pull off a
musical, the cast must
devote about 9 weeks of intense effort prior to April vacation, including
frequent after-school rehearsals. In order to be included in the
production, you must be a student in good academic standing. Failing
a
class at any point during the year will likely keep you off the cast
list.
Of course, tech positions behind the scenes exist for those of you who
don't
like the spotlight. Advisor : Ms. Hughes
Outing Club - Meets: Periodically throughout
the year.
We organize and run events such as hiking, snowshoeing, canoeing &
camping
trips. Trips are generally open to all students in grades 9-12; however,
some trips have a limit and may be limited to grades 11 & 12 only.Advisor:

Gorilla Theater is looking for participants!!
Meetings will be this afternoon and Thursday in the cafeteria from 3:15-4:30.
The theater group writes and performs scripts dealing with teen issues
and encourages all interested students to attend. Advisor : Shelly Park
Scholars’ Bowl - Is open ot students
of all ages. The activity questions resemble Jeopardy type questions
where random knowledge about a wide a array of topics can often be your
best strategy. We meet once a week throughout the year and practice
question answering strategies, trivia games, and practice meets. There
are two after school meets in the fall, an invitational meet in the
Winter and semifinals and finals in the late winter and spring. We continue
to hone our skills throughout the year in weekly practices. This year,
practices will be held during Lunch A and B on Wednesdays. Advisor :

PAWS - Press About Wildcat Students - The TVHS school
newspaper is open to students of all grades. The paper is a bi-weekly
publication with areticles that range from local interest in the community
to hot topics at school and sports. Editors Mike Squindo and Tyler Rebello
are always looking for additional staff and reporters. Advisor : Mr.

Third Floor West - TVHS Literary Journal
- This activity begins in March and is open to all students who are
interested in writing and illustration or graphic design. Students put
together and publish a literary journal of all submitted work. Students
are invited to attend the Scholastic Press forum at American International
College in Springfield MA where the previous years journal has been
submitted for awards and to attend workshop given by writers, photographers
and artists working in magazine, newspaper, tv and radio.
The main event for all students is the Writer's Workshop which is held
in May. It is a day long opportunity to write creatively with the guidance
of a noted author or poet. This is held annually at the White House
of Wilmington. Interested students then design and put together our
literary journal which is premiered at the art show in June. Advisor

Advisory Council - Each advisory should elect one member
to Advisory Council to meet once a month during Advisory. This group
will work to make sure the goals of advisory are being met and will
discuss ways to constantly evaluate and update the TVHS advisory program.
Advisor: Ms. Brodie
Student Council - Meets several times each month. Students
plan functions such as the blood drive, spirit week, and events for
students. They also look at more serious issues such as rules and policies
of the school and work to improve school climate. Advisor : Ms. Brodie
The TVHS Drama Society - The Group meets biweekly (to
start) after school for one hour during the school year (more time may
be necessary for competition/presentation). The direction of the group
will be based on individual student interest and how to best support
the learning/achievement of their goals. Other areas of drama/theater
would be presented to support/enhance/enrich personal student goals.
Involvement in major TVHS drama/theater productions and local/state
competitions would be encouraged for students’ growth and challenge.

National Thespian Socitey - These are students who
are inducted into a National theatrical organization after participating
for at least one hundred hours in theatrical productions. Advisor :
Mr. Nicol
Members of the Veritas (Truth) Chapter of the National Honor
Society
are selected from those juniors and seniors who have a GPA of 3.5 and
who
meet the criteria of leadership, character, and service. During the
school
year the chapter engages in service projects such as arranging the annual
Honors Lunch and marking World AIDS Day. Each member also works at
individual service projects like tutoring, mentoring, or coaching children's
sports teams. Any junior or senior who has reached a 3.5 average by
the end of the first semester will be contacted by Ms. Piffard about
eligibility. Advisor : Ms. Maddern
Junior Mentors - Each year, interested juniors are
trained to participate as junior mentors for the incoming freshman class.
They meet once a month during advisory time to discuss specific topics
with their mentees, and also to answer questions freshmen might have
about TVHS. Advisor : Ms. Brodie
Electronics Workshop : This is for students who are
interested in the inner workings of electronics. The group meets after

Class Officers - Class officers are elected every September. The offices are :
President - sets the agenda for meetings, runs meetings, works closely with class advisors
Vice President - helps set agenda for meetings, runs meetings in the case that the president is not in attendance, works closely with class advisors
Secretary - helps set agenda for meetings,keeps notes for meetings including tasks to be accomplished
Treasurer - helps set agenda for meetings, reports to the class the current balance, deposits class money at the office
